Riders fuss endlessly over their horse's fitness and almost entirely ignore their own. This is the other half of the partnership: the rider's body and the rider's head, and how often they turn out to be the same subject. Strength work, physiotherapy, breathing and position, and the nerve that goes after a fall. Adult riders are told confidence is a willpower problem. The evidence doesn't agree.
